Sup Travellers?! The initial report about the sequel to Independence Day was a very grim one that did not include the "After Earth" star, Will Smith. The reason that the studio didn't include Will Smith in the script was because he was way too expensive and marquee. But what's an Independence Day film without Will? Will is nothing less than the face we all associate with the movie especially after the major box office smashing success of the first film.

After much thought, the director, Roland Emmerich, decided to have a second script that included Will just in case they decided to change their mind. The final decision to have Will in the movie has not been reached yet but once there is a Will, there's always a way. Well, at least Emmerich seems to think so because even though still unsure, he told Indiewire's The Playlist that the chances that the Smith version will be made are "looking good." He also describes the decision as a "Daily Battle."

We'll just have to wait and see what Emmerich decides to do. It's obvious that the cost of Will Smith has skyrocketed exponentially since the first movie in 1996, but any film with Will Smith has a tendency to break global box offices. He's just that epic. But among all the debate whether Will will be in the movie or not, it is still scheduled to be released on the very competitive date of July 3, 2015. Why is it a competitive date? You ask? Well "Marvel's The Avengers 2," "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" and "Jurassic World" are scheduled to be playing around that time. If Independence Day 2 is going to even stand a chance against those heavy weights they better throw in Will or face the wrath of a second choice film. Anyway, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
