Universal Soldier Reboot Is In The Works.

Universal Soldier is one of Jean-Claude Van Damme's greatest films of all time. He played the role of Luc Deveraux, a US army soldier who was killed in the Vietnam war but was brought back to life decades later for a secret military project called the "Universal Soldier" Program. It was an epic film and now Hollywood is working on another.
The film got itself a sequel and a few direct-to-video spin-offs but nothing compared to the first one. So, today we are happy to announce that a complete reimagining of the franchise is in the works and it is being written by "The Equalizer" writer Richard Wenk.

While speaking about the film he said that he is only a week away from turning in a script for the reimagined "Universal Soldier" film.

He said: "I will say that I’m just finishing up a re-imagining — let’s be clear about this, it’s not a remake and it is not a redo — but it is a re-imagining of a movie called Universal Soldier," Wenk said. "Very much like ‘The Equalizer,’ it’s the title that inspired me and not the movies…I’m just about to finish (the script) and turn it in this week."
Richard Wenk stresses that it would be a full re imagining and not a sequel or redo: "I had seen the movies and enjoyed them for what they were... but I didn't see those stories and that world to be relevant today, but I thought that the title Universal Solider and where we're going in terms of science, and also having something to say about war, would be interesting, so we sort of just took a whole other tact, and [are] hopefully building it to have this great franchise character. One, singular."

I am a big fan of the first Universal Soldier film and I hope that Hollywood doesn't ruin the film by doing a horrible job at the re imagining. Are you looking forward to this? Let me know on Facebook or in the comments section below.
