Tom Hardy Teases Potential 'Mad Max' Sequel

If you are a "Mad Max" fan then I want you to get excited because it seems like we may get another one, and even another one after that. Oh yeah!!!

During San Diego Comic-Con this year, Tom Hardy spoke a little about Mad Max.

He said: "It was always the plan to do three of them, so I think we're still waiting on being given the opportunity and the green light to go ahead on the next one. But when I engaged on that there was a plethora of material on it. Obviously, it belongs to Warner Brothers so it would be them who green-lit it. But a lot of projects are in radial, you know you wait for something to land when it's real, and as soon as it's real we'll jump on it."

Given that Mad Max did so well in theaters I don't see any reason why Warner Brothers wouldn't green light another one. I think that right now it's not a matter of "if" but "when".

Speaking to the audience at a Television Critics Association panel last year, he said, "There's mythology to do with Mad Max that spans copious amounts of tales. What's wonderful about George [Miller, series, writer/director] is that he's created sagas for Max and sagas for Furiosa [played by Charlize Theron], so it's what he chooses to focus in on."

He also added, "I'm really just waiting for the call like, 'All right, let's get the leathers on and get back out there and do some more. It's there. I'm just waiting for it and looking forward to it. It's a question of when. I'm not sure it's called The Wasteland or not 'cause you never know. These titles change all the time. But, there's definitely another Mad Max project pending."

At the moment, Hardy is promoting his upcoming film "Venom". Speaking about why he decided to play the role of Venom he said to the Comic-Con audience: "There's my son, and he's a massive Venom fan. He was a very strong influence on me as to why I ought to play Venom specifically."

He continued, "So I wanted to do something that my son could watch. A lot of the films I've done are normally pretty aggressive or violent, or I swear a lot, so I did something where I bite people's heads off, so my son still can't see it."
