Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot Is In The Works With Joss Whedon At The Helm

Buffy, the bad a$$ vampire slayer is making a return to television and we couldn't be any more pumped about it. I love Buffy and with Joss Whedon as executive producer I'm expecting it to be AMAZEBALLS.

The only downside is that Sarah Michelle Gellar is not reprising her role in the reboot but I have faith that with Joss Whedon at the helm, whoever is playing Buffy will be a perfect fit (Joss Whedon was the creator of the original film FYI).

Monica Owusu-Breen is going to be the writer and according to reports, the new Buffy will be African American. But, it's still early days so things are subject to change. even though I actually like the idea of a black Buffy!

According to sources, the new series will be "contemporary and build on the mythology of the original. Like today's world, the new Buffy will be richly diverse, with some aspects of the series, like the flagship, seen as metaphors for issues facing society today."

It's unclear what Joss Whedon's actual role really is in the reboot but he will definitely be on the team and will be overseeing the project.

"I see a little bit of what I call monkey's paw in these reboots. You bring something back, and even if it's exactly as good as it was, the experience can't be," Whedon told THR last year. "You've already experienced it, and part of what was great was going through it for the first time. You have to meet expectations and adjust it for the climate, which is not easily. Luckily most of my actors still look wonderful, but I'm not worried about them being creaky. I'm more worried about me being creaky as a storyteller. You don't want that feeling that you should have left before the encore."

I'm actually looking forward to this. I would have much preferred a Netflix reboot of the film but I can roll with 20th Century Fox Television doing it too. Are you excited about this new reboot? Let me know on Facebook or in the comments section below.
