Sup Travellers?! College tuition fees aren't cheap. Most prospective students in countries like the USA can't afford college fees but have no fear, Germany is here!!!

According to reports from ThinkProgress, College is officially free in Germany.

“We got rid of tuition fees because we do not want higher education which depends on the wealth of the parents,” Gabrielle Heinen-Kjajic, the minister for science and culture in Lower Saxony, said in a statement. Her words were echoed by many in the German government.

“Tuition fees are unjust,” said Hamburg’s senator for science Dorothee Stapelfeldt. “They discourage young people who do not have a traditional academic family background from taking up study. It is a core task of politics to ensure that young women and men can study with a high quality standard free of charge in Germany.”

Lower Saxony recently became the last of the states to scrap tuition fees, making the upcoming fall semester free throughout all of Germany, even for international students.

It's obvious that most college students in Germany jumped for joy at the news.

I live in Trinidad and tuition fees are usually paid by the government so it's technically free over here too but I don't think Trinidad will be abolishing tuition fees anytime soon.

In the US, college tuition fees are causing a lot of problems since the student loan debt stands at $1.2 trillion.

Abolishing tuition fees however is easier said than done especially in the US but there are some government measures that can ease the burden. Measures like making  two-year colleges free for all high school graduates; an initiative that was implemented in Tennessee.

I think there's no better time than now to learn some German. Anyway, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
