Alexandra Shipp To Play Aaliyah In Lifetime Biopic

Sup Travellers?! After Zendaya Coleman dropped out of the Aaliyah biopic Lifetime had to cease production until a replacement could have been found. I honestly wanted Zendaya to play the role but as of now Nickelodeon actress Alexendra Shipp is set replace the Disney starlet.

Zendaya Coleman, who was originally cast in the lead role as the R&B singer said back in June that she droped out because she felt that the project was being rushed.

"I just felt the project wasn't 100 percent there. I feel [that] production wise everything just felt a little rushed," she told MTV. "And I think because she's someone I admire and I love so much, it can't be done halfway, or not to the standards I think it should be done at, so I just decided not to do it. By all means, when the right project comes along and it's done the right way I'll be the first person ready to play Aaliyah, but this wasn't the right one for me. I've been into Aaliyah since I was little, so there wasn't too much getting into character. I always pretend I'm her anyway."

According to the Hollywood Reporter the project, titled Aaliyah: Princess of R&B is set to resume filming this summer with a fall premiere date planned as Shipp takes on the role of Aaliyah.

Shipp starred in a number of shows already including Nickelodeon's House of Anubis as well as episodes of Switched at Birth, Awkward and Ray Donovan.

Does Shipp even look like Aaliyah? Well, she actually does and the complaint about Zendaya not being "black enough" for the role cannot be used on Shipp. Hopefully Shipp can do a quality job --- you know, since Aaliyah gave us quality and all. Anyway, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
