5 Year Old Girl Forced To Drink So Much Soda That She Died.

Sup Travellers?! Who knew that liquids could be fatal in heavy dosages? Well some people probably know that already but not the Vaughn family from Tennessee. They apparently weren't aware that feeding a child heavy amounts of acute liquids/water could lead to death. A report by New York Daily News states that a husband and wife in Tennessee are accused of making their 5-year-old daughter, Alexa Linboom, drink 2 whole liters of grape soda  and water within the space of an hour or two  as punishment. Alexa died as a result.

Alexa died way back in January of 2012 but the 25 month long investigation finally led to the murder charges of her parents, Randall Vaughn, 41, and Mary Vaughn, 58. The investigation found that all the liquid caused little Alexa Linboom’s head to swell and herniate because of “acute fluid/water intoxication,”

“They also failed to take care of the child once she was injured,” District Attorney General Berkeley Bell told the newspaper. “Our position is it was a matter of several hours after the child started exhibiting serious symptoms, after the child was screaming out in pain, went into a paralyzed state, and became unconscious.”

The Vaughns are charged with first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated child neglect, and aggravated child abuse. They could face the death penalty in the death of Alexa Linboom, who is Randall Vaughn's biological daughter,

Police say the couple decided to punish the girl after she drank one of her step-mother's grape sodas. They allegedly made her drink more than two liters of soda and water in an hour or two. The couple brought the girl to the hospital after she showed signs of distress, but she died two days later. The volume of liquid had overwhelmed her system and caused serious brain damage, says her autopsy. Alexa had moved to Tennessee to live with her father about three months ago, reportedly because of neglect at her previous home.

A good old fashioned grounding might have done the trick. At least Alexa might have been alive today and the Vaughns wouldn't have been jail. The parents were very creative in their approach to punishment but it's obvious that they lacked brains research. Anyway, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
