Sup Travellers?! If you are an avid consumer of coffee then it has been scientifically proven that you are smarter than people who don't drink coffee. The results of the research is only limited to the behaviors of the test subjects but you know science; always generalizing sh*t. The study was reported on Forbes and it basically states that caffeine significantly boosts your ability to remember details. The study was conducted within a 24 hour period so it's still unclear if caffeine aids in long term memory as well.

So how did they discover this? Well, the researchers had test subjects, who were not regular coffee drinkers, try to memorize a series a pictures. Afterwards, they were given a 200 milligram dose of caffeine in the form of a pill. After 24 hours the test subjects were asked to determine which pictures in a new set had also been shown the day before. The new items were similar but not identical to the old ones. There was another group but that the participants in the second group were not caffeinated. It was discovered that the participants in the caffeinated group were much better at recognizing the new items that were similar but not
the same as old ones. So based on the research conducted it was concluded that caffeine influences how the brain consolidates memories.

We've always known that caffeine has cognitive enhancing effects," said Study author, Michael Yassa, “but its particular effects on strengthening memories and making them resistant to forgetting has never been examined in detail in humans. We report for the first time a specific effect of caffeine on reducing forgetting over 24 hours."

I think this new study could go a long way but the real test is putting it to the test.....during a test. Some students learn faster than others so does caffeine matter that much when it comes down to reading a pile of text books in preparation for an exam? I don't think so. It may help a lot but if you take this new study very seriously you'll be gulping down enough coffee to give you wings like Red Bull. You'd be so high off of Starbucks that you'd probably never make it to class [LOL]. This is a great study for future innovations but I don't think i'd be drinking truck loads of coffee in order to pass an exam anytime soon. But that's just me. Anyway, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
