Young People Have Stopped Having Sex In Japan.

Sup Travellers?! Japan is having a national crisis. It's not nuclear waste or the constant threat of earthquakes and Tsunamis. No! It's actually worst than that. According to a recent study, 61% of unmarried Japanese men and 49% of women aged 18 to 34 are not in any kind of romantic relationship. And a third of Japanese people under 30 have never dated at all. This is not a very good thing at all and I'm not just saying that. IT REALLY ISN'T GOOD FOR THE JAPANESE!!!

Another survey found that 45% of women and more than a quarter of men aged 16 to 24 "were not interested in or despised sexual contact." In Japan, they're calling this new phenomenon "sekkusu shinai shokogun," or "celibacy syndrome." This phenomenon means that the birth rate in the country is scheduled to decrease drastically over the next few years. This is not good for Japan because the country already has a rapidly shrinking birth rate which triggered the study in the first place.

So, what's causing it? You ask? Well there are multiple potential reasons according to the UK Guardian.Trying to balance a career and a relationship is too troublesome.

"I don't earn a huge salary to go on dates and I don't want the responsibility of a woman hoping it might lead to marriage," says a 31-year-old man who says he has simply " learned to live without sex."

One woman says that she stopped dating men because they expected marriage but that can be the death of a Japanese woman's career. "The bosses assume you will get pregnant," she says. "You have to resign. You end up being a housewife with no independent income. It's not an option for women like me."

At first I thought that the reason was because of something that was in the food [I almost stopped eating Ramen for a second] but it is apparently societal and economic pressureS that's causing it. The men don't make enough money to supply for the growing needs of a woman and the women just can't afford to get pregnant or even married because of the growing needs of their jobs.

The Japanese could follow the Chinese and do what they did back in the 1960s. The Chinese put everything in place from policies to grants to encourage people to have as much children as possible. This worked wonders for the Chinese population. So much so that they now have a One Child Policy that restricts urban couples to only one child because of the huge spike in population. I don't know what the Japanese government is going to do about it but it is obvious that we need some more Japanese people on this earth. I love Japanese culture. Not necessarily the food and stuff but I love Anime. I grew up on stuff like Sega, Namco and Nintendo. Japanese people are amazing and I'm sure everyone of us could testify to that. Anyway, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
