Sup Travellers?! What Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and his brother did on April 15th of this year is unforgivable and i'm sure we can all agree on that. But something that we all probably can't agree on is whether or not his prison conditions should be better. He's literally in a cage isolated from almost all forms of human interaction [It's either that or the death penalty].
Lawyers for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev asked a judge on Wednesday to lift restrictions placed on him in prison, arguing that the conditions are overly harsh and have left him nearly totally isolated from mankind. Tsarnaev's lawyers said in a motion filed in court that he has been confined to his cell except for visits from them [his lawyers] and has "very limited access" to a small outdoor enclosure. In their motion, Tsarnaev's lawyers said "Special Administrative Measures" were imposed on their client beginning in August, at the request of US Attorney Carmen Ortiz and the approval of Attorney General Eric Holder. This is according to information provided by the Boston Globe.
What's Special Administrative Measures you ask? Special Administrative Measures are used in terrorism cases and other high-profile cases when authorities allege that there is "substantial risk" that a defendant's communications or contacts with people "could result in death or serious bodily injury" to others. The measures restrict access to the mail, the media, the telephone and visitors. Tsarnaev's lawyers say prosecutors have presented no evidence that the special restrictions are needed in Tsarnaev's case.
I have no idea what to think of this Tsarnaev guy. On face value he looks very innocent but he is obviously the furthest thing from innocent. If he is given the ability to communicate with other humans [excluding his lawyers] there is a slight chance that he may arrange some attacks [you never know] but there is also a chance that he won't. I really can't tell. I think i'll just wait this out and see what the judge's final word on it is. But until then, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
