Father Killed On Trek To Honor Dead Son.

Sup Travellers?! Every single day this world just has a tendency to bring us really sad news and it never seems to end. Today I got some sad news coming out of the windy state of Colorado. According to reports from the New York Times, Joe Bell was killed while he was on a trek to honor his dead son. The details surrounding this entire incident are horrific, yet somewhat touching. For almost six months Bell walked in a valiant attempt to make it across the country to honor his 15 year old son who killed himself after being bullied for being openly gay.

The 48 year old father planned to walk from his home in Oregon to New York City, because his son Jadin wanted to live there one day. While on his journey he had been sharing his son's story in order to build awareness on the dangers of bullying. However, Bell met a tragic end to his journey when he was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer on a rural Colorado road after the driver apparently fell asleep.

He was set to speak at a Hugo, Colorado church the day he died, an engagement set up by a sheriff he met who also has a gay son. "This man had to [have] made a huge difference in everyone he met," the sheriff says. "He made me realize how important basic humanity still is." A memorial service was held in Oregon yesterday.

I am personally not very fond of the whole concept of homosexuality but I still respect what Joe Bell did as a father. Almost every single article that I have wrote about teen suicide was induced by bullying. There isn't really much that I can do right now about bullying but I do agree that awareness around the matter needs to be built. This is what Joe Bell stood for.......Actually, this is what Joe Bell walked for. Sadly enough, he wasn't able to finish his trek. RIP Joe and Jadin. My name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
