Sup Travellers?! A new Miss World was crowned today at Bali Indonesia. Can you guess who it is? Well it's Miss Phillipines,  Megan Young. I didn't watch the show so I can't really say if she deserved it or not but she looks good at face value I must say. But putting all that aside, things almost went downhill at the pageant.  It was reported that the contest was plagued with protests from Muslim extremists. The situation almost got pretty ugly but thankfully the guards were on the case very diligently.

The 23 year old US born model Megan Young accepted the crown from last year's winner, Wenxia Yu of China, and promised to "be the best Miss World ever". Marine Lorphelin, a 20-year-old medical student from France, took second place. From Ghana, Carranzar Naa Okailey Shooter, 23, also a medical student, came third. Congratulations to all and thank goodness that no one got hurt during the event.

Thousands of members of the radical Islam Defenders Front took to the streets over the past month to protest holding the pageant in Indonesia, the world's most populous Muslim country. The protests caused the organizers to change the location of the pageant from a venue outside Jakarta to Nusa Dua in southern Bali, a predominantly Hindu resort island.

Before I end i'd like to give a shout out to Sherrece Villafana who represented Trinidad and Tobago in the Miss World Pageant. She didn't win, but that's no big deal. There has been a lot of successful "losers", just look at Anya Ayoung Chee [Anya Ayoung Chee represented Trinidad and Tobago in the Miss Universe 2008 Pageant]. The Miss World pageant could definitely be a stepping stone for Sherrece. At least she didn't end up dead in the protests. That would have been tragic. Anyway, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
