Sup Travellers?! If you are a well informed Trini then I would assume that you've heard about the Sextuplets that were born in Trinidad and Tobago. It was very big news that we all celebrated, but things eventually took a turn for the worst when the babies started dying. According to reports from the Trinidad Express, a third member of the sextuplets has died. Read on.

Baby Persia Meleigh, who had remained warded at the Mount Hope Women’s Hospital has died. She is the 2nd girl to have passed away and the 3rd of the sextuplet to have died. According to reports, she died last night. Persia was born with a congenital abnormality. The sextuplets were born to Petra Lee Foon, a teacher and Kieron Cummings, a banking employee. The parents made history with the successful birth of the Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean’s first sextuplet.

Dr Shehenaz Mohammed, Chairman of the North Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA) confirmed that both parents were at the baby’s bedside when she passed away. The last born of the sextuplets, Paeton Christopher died in April just 16 days after his eldest sibling, Kaelon Nasir. The three surviving siblings, one girl and two boys were discharged from hospital and are with their parents. Baby Persia and her siblings were delivered by Caesarian section on March 4th 2013.

The father recently expressed his regrets about having the mother of his children give birth in Trinidad. He stated that if he could have done it again he would have gone abroad because of the poor aftercare given to his babies. But would all six have lived if he had gone abroad? Well we'll never now, now would we? Anyway, my name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
