TRINIDAD: Gate Crushes 90 Year Old Man To Death.....

Sup Travellers?! In Trinidad and Tobago, the elderly are a group of  highly experienced folks who get lots of sh*t. There are many times where the elderly are neglected and not really taken into consideration on many instances. Please note that i'm not saying that all elderly people are treated unfairly, i'm just saying that the majority are. However, despite that fact, no matter your age, race or disposition, we must all admit that this story is a heartbreaking one. Read on.

According to reports from the Trinidad and Tobago Newsday, a small Penal community is mourning the death of 90-year-old pensioner Sankar Gopie, who was crushed to death on Thursday by an iron gate which fell on him. It was reported that at 4:15pm on Thursday the heavy iron gate at the entrance of the family’s home at Bheemul Trace, San Francique accidently fell on him while he was opening it for a relative. He was rushed to the San Fernando General hospital where he later died.

Mr. Gopie is a father of seven and grandfather of 12. Mr. Gopie's Daughter Savitri Sankar, 49, told Newsday that only a few hours earlier, she and her father sat down and shared lunch together. “He was his normal cheerful self,” Sankar said. “He even cut the grass at the front of the yard. He was still strong and very active in and around the house.”

This is really tragic. My heart goes out to the friends of family of Mr. Gopie. I could only imagine how they must be feeling now. My name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
