Sup Travellers?! You know that guy named Benny Hinn? Well he was in Trinidad and Tobago past weekend for a sermon. He came, preached the amazing word of God, saved a few souls, bashed a few people.... Same old same old, then left. But what was different in Benny Hinn's visit this time was the amount of money that he raised in pledges in an hour.

According to reports from the Trinidad and Tobago Newsday, Benny Hinn managed to raise TT$1.4 million in one hour while in Trinidad. Now that's a lot of money, but none of it really was for him. The money raised was to compensate the Woodbrook Pentecostal Church who were the organizers of the event. The cost of throwing the event was as high as TT$1.5 million excluding the hospitality cost for Hinn and his team.

So Benny Hinn out of the goodness of his heart, pledged US$5000 to help the organizers and he called on others to pledge US$1000. Now US$1000 sounds like a really big figure to pledge but up to 100 people pledged the $1000US, a few people pledged US$2000 and one person matched Benny Hinn's pledge of US$5000.

In about 45 minutes, Hinn announced that the US dollars pledges, when converted to TT dollars, amounted to some $900,000. And at the hour mark the pledges reached as high as $1.4 million. While calling in the pledges, Hinn preached that prosperity and debt relief were achieved through giving and receiving.

Prosperity is not an accident,” he said, noting that “people of God” who gave in Indonesia and Ghana among other countries in the world were receiving ten times in return. “It is time the ‘people of God’ in Trinidad prosper,” he said.

The keys to prosperity, he said, included making God the source, giving, receiving and praying, putting iniquity far from oneself; and obedience to God.

Up to 8000 people showed up to the event on Saturday and up to 14,000 on Sunday, according to security personnel.

I'm really happy that the Woodbrook Pentecostal Church garnered so much support in pledges. The church did a really good thing for the people of Trinidad and Tobago by bringing Benny Hinn to the shores and they showed they love in pledges. What a great story.

My name is Trinikid and you've just been informed.
