TRINIDAD: The First Murder Of 2013 Has Been Recorded.

I know it was too good to be true. Three days of peace in Trinidad and Tobago was just a little too much to ask for this year. The first murder for the year was recorded on the third day into 2013 with the death of 26-year-old Kevon Dover of Ninth Avenue, Barataria, who was shot Wednesday night by three masked gunmen while liming with a friend.

According to police reports, at about 7 pm, Kevon and his 20 year old friend Tarik David were liming near a  shop along Seventh Avenue when three masked assailants approached them and instantaneously opened fire on the limers before scurrying off. Kevon was shot in his chest and stomach whilst his friend was shot in his left arm, neck and head. They were both rushed to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex. Kevon died at about 1 am on Thursday. David is still warded at the hospital in serious condition.

Also, earlier on Wednesday another two men from Eight Avenue Barataria were shot very similarly. Omari Williams and Kurt Sandy did not die so it hasn't been considered a murder but they were rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital.

Murder number 1 has been recorded.... Let's all just sigh, shall we.
