Not many records were broken by the final installment of the Twilight series, nevertheless it still managed to gross a hefty amount in its opening weekend both domestically and internationally. The film opened at number 1 in the domestic box office with $141.3 million 4,070 theaters. It also opened high in the international market with a $199.6 million gross from 61 markets. The film also had high worldwide figures with a  $340.9 million debut  It's the franchise's best global opening, thanks to massive international business.


The film however didn't manage to gross as much as the $142.8 million opening of New Moon on the same weekend in 2009, but it did open ahead of the $138.1 million grossed by Breaking Dawn -- Part 1 on the same weekend last year, thanks in part to especially strong Saturday traffic and an A CinemaScore.
Overseas, Breaking Dawn 2 opened well ahead of previous Twilight films in nearly every territory.
