Marvel's The Avengers is selling out theaters worldwide at a phenomenally fast rate grossing $1 billion in only three weeks. This makes The Avengers the fastest grossing movie of all time, however according to statistics, The Avengers is not the best film of all time yet. "Really?"

The Avengers is currently ninth recently surpassing Alice In Wonderland and Star Wars Episode 1 The Phantom Menace. The number 1 film of all time is James Cameron's Avatar while the second is James Cameron's Titanic, and those both movies have been directed by James Cameron, so it is fair to say that James Cameron is the best director in the world. Hopefully Joss Whedon can change that in a few weeks time. The Avengers just have a little over $1 billion more to make to become the best. Do you think it would? I certainly have no reason to think that it won't. Think about it. The Avengers has been in the theaters for only three weeks, and it already has $ 1billion. I don't think The Avengers is going to leave the big screen anytime soon so I think that it will comfortably surpass the likes of Avatar and Titanic.

The top ten best movies of all time are listed below in the billions.

1 Avatar Fox $2.7  $760.5 27.3% $2,021.8 72.7% 2009^

3 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 WB $1.3 $381.0 28.7% $947.1 71.3% 2011

4 Transformers: Dark of the Moon P/DW $1.1 $352.4 31.4% $771.4 68.6% 2011

5 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King NL $1.1 $377.8 33.7% $742.1 66.3% 2003^

  1. Damn and it doesn't look to stop anytime soon. IMO it will come close to Avatar.
