New York City is one of the most popular cities to visit in America. While the city is filled with glitz and glamor, there are a number of attractions to see that you must visit. It doesn't matter if you love history or want to remember those that have fallen, NYC is home to several awe inspiring attractions. Here are just five must see attractions for first-time visitors to NYC.
Empire State Building

Enjoy the best views that NYC has to offer by stepping out of the observation deck of the Empire State Building. Like with most NYC attractions, you can save time by purchasing your tickets online instead of waiting in line with the 10-20 thousand visitors who tour the building each day. Tickets cost $21 for adults and $15 for children.
Statue of Liberty

When people think of NYC, they immediately think of the Statue of Liberty. In fact, it has become the symbol of our country and has reminded immigrants for years of the freedoms that await them. There are free tours available, but you must remember to arrive early and plan to spend at least half a day at the monument. You should also plan to bring food along unless you want to stand in long lines.
Central Park

People often think of NYC as the concrete jungle and while greenery is sparse in the Big Apple, there are still great parks to visit, including Central Park. Home to many great concerts, the park is a wonderful place to escape. There are walking trails, boat rides and the Central Park Zoo, which costs only $12 for adults and $7 for children.
American Museum of Natural History

No trip to NYC would be complete without visiting the American Museum of Natural History. Opened in 1869, the museum is home to many great exhibits including Natives Americans and dinosaurs. Admission is only $19 for adults and $10.50 for children.
9/11 Memorial

Last, but not least, every visitor to NYC should visit the 9/11 Memorial. The exhibit is free and pays homage to those that lost their lives during that fateful September morning. You should consider making reservations to visit the memorial online to avoid long lines.
There are a number of great attractions in NYC and if you want to see them all, it is recommended to buy tickets online. You can even save money by buying special passes that give you access to several different attractions.
